Parameters Tested
- pH: Measures how acidic or alkaline the water is.
- Carbonate Hardness (KH): Measures the water’s buffering capacity to prevent rapid pH swings.
- General Hardness (GH): Measures dissolved calcium and magnesium ions.
- Nitrite (NO₂⁻): Tracks toxic waste produced by the biological filter; should ideally remain at 0 ppm.
- Nitrate (NO₃⁻): Tracks the end-product of the nitrogen cycle; managed via routine water changes.
How to Use
- Dip a test strip directly into the aquarium water and swirl it for a couple of seconds.
- Remove the strip and hold it level (pads facing up).
- Match the colors on the strip to the color-coded chart provided on the product packaging.
- Read GH and KH immediately, then wait about 30 seconds to read pH, nitrite, and nitrate levels depending on the specific package instructions.
