It is variously known as matikaduri in Assamese, ponnanganni, ponnaganti aaku, honnagone, and mukunuwenna. It is cultivated as a vegetable worldwide.

Beautiful red plant…. I’ve bought 2 plants for their beauty and as there is very little info on these, I thought I’ll have a go at keeping them and gain some knowledge. These are very seldom seen in aquarium shops, so a lack of info there……In time I will update this review on this site with some info if poss…
