Usage & Dosing Guidelines
- Pre-Treatment: Rinse before use. Note that PhosGuard can generate heat upon initial contact with water, so pre-wet it by adding it to a double volume of freshwater followed by a thorough rinse.
- Placement: Use inside a filter bag placed in a high-flow area like a canister filter, media chamber, or box filter (avoid areas where beads can tumble against each other).
- Dosage: Use 85 mL (1/3 cup) for every 200 L (50 US gallons) of saltwater, or for every 400 L (100 US gallons) of freshwater.
- Testing: Leave in place for 4 days, then test levels. Replace if concentrations have not dropped to approximately 0.02 mg/L.
- Compatibility Warning: Not recommended for phosphate-buffered freshwater systems because it will absorb the buffer until saturated.
